Did you know Crystal Brook Advisors launched a Snapchat last week? @CrystalbrookNYC

Snapchat is exploding in popularity among all types of people from all over the world. Young professionals, entrepreneurs, college students, even parents are snapping pictures and adding geotags to share pictures and videos in real-time. It seems like nowadays everyone has a Snapchat that they constantly check, update, and watch …and it’s true. There are an estimated 100 million daily users on the mobile-based platform to check in with friends, family, and influencers. Snapchat is another amazing and fun app that has changed the social media game once again.

However, there is a huge gap in what users are subscribing to, and what Snapchat can actually do. Not only can you snap a picture of your lunch to your friends, but did you ever realize the different ways you can use Snapchat research your future investments? Let’s take a look!

What is Social Conscious Investing?

Also known as socially responsible investing, Social Conscious Investing refers to the practice of investing money into a company that funds globally responsible products and services. This can include services such as solar energy and organic farming. Publicly traded mutual funds are some of the most common ways to invest in companies that speak to a cause, project, or initiative the investor is passionate about.

You may be asking yourself, “How am I supposed to do all that tedious research to keep myself informed and updated on company values?” Well, here is how Snapchat can help!

Snapchat to the rescue

Following brands that you use, identify with, or that support a certain cause close to heart is the perfect place to begin. It’s simple, it’s fun, and it’s easy research.

Why is it easy research? Most companies update their Snapchat stories from once a week to once a day to give their followers special deals, announce partnerships or initiatives, and provide behind the scenes access to their business. Why read long company articles, when you can see cool and informative photos and videos that represent the heart of the company?

By simply clicking a small icon, you’re able to follow, unfollow, message, and interact with companies you may want to invest in. Unlike Instagram and Facebook, there is no continuous feed of information. You can choose when, where, and for how long you’d like to view their content.

What next?

Look around your house for brands you may want to invest with. Ask your globally conscious friend if they’ve invested in any companies recently. Once you have a basic idea of the businesses you may want to start investing in, follow them on Snapchat! Instead of doing all the work and research yourself, they’ll bring the company updates to you at your convenience.

Here at Crystal Brook Advisors, we help you identify your social conscious investing values, and work with you to create your financial plan. We can educate you on how to incorporate those investments into your financial plan, both short and long term.
